Svetlana Bailey's photo-based practice searches for new ways of inhabiting our world. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with the Master of Fine Arts (Photography). Her work questions the human centric view of our environment that underlies tension between nature and culture. Svetlana has been an artist-in-residence at the ISCP in New York, the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, the NARS Foundation in New York, the Mountain School in Los Angeles and Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing. Her work is held in the Australian Government’s Artbank collection and the Library of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and for two years running was awarded the Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward prize. She has exhibited at Elizabeth Houston NYC, Clamp Art NYC, Filter Space Chicago and Blue Sky in Portland, Artereal Sydney and Penrith Regional Gallery.
