Crossing Art Inaugural Open Call for Artists 2025:
Exhibiting Identity, AAPI Heritage, Diversity, and Cultural RepresentatioN
Theme: Exhibiting Identity, AAPI Heritage, Diversity, and Cultural Representation
Crossing Art was founded with the belief that Contemporary art can broaden dialogues among cultures and discourses and should be shared with communities not limited to certain locale or audiences. This call is open to artists whose work explores themes of AAPI Heritage & Identity, Diversity and Cultural Representation. We invite contemporary artists to submit work that engage the public in critical issues impacting Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) across the country through a diverse range of 2D and 3D mediums, including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, multimedia, film and installation art.
For AAPI’s, belonging is about a sense of community, home, agency, and the essential right for our communities to flourish. Belonging is a counterweight to racism and violence, and can advance a vision for the inclusion and recognition of the ways AAPI communities have shaped and contributed to this country.
The selected exhibition will focus on the dynamic intersections of cultural identity, with an emphasis on the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) experience, the richness of global diversity, and the ongoing conversations surrounding cultural representation. Artists are encouraged to address issues related to:
● Cultural Identity and Heritage: Exploring personal and collective identity through the lens of history, tradition, and lived experience.
● AAPI Representation: Highlighting the voices, stories, and experiences of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in contemporary art.
● Diversity and Inclusion: Creating works that reflect and challenge the representation of diverse communities in the art world and beyond.
● Cultural Narratives: Engaging with the multiplicities of culture, ethnicity, and the impact of migration, colonization, and global interconnectedness.
Exhibition Details: A group of 5-7 artists will be selected to present a collective exhibition, creating a dynamic, multi-perspective exploration of identity, diversity, and cultural representation.
Exhibition Dates:
August 2025 / October 2025
The group exhibition will take place in Crossing Art’s expansive, light-filled gallery space in Chelsea, offering artists exposure to a broad audience, including collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from New York City and beyond.
